Out of the Mouth of Babes
Are you tormented? Are you fearful? Are you worried? The battle is almost always fought and won in the mind but what do you do when the thoughts are overwhelming, when you are too 'under it' to fight back? The Bible tells us we have a very powerful weapon that most of us are not utilising. That is the power of praise. The Bible says that out of our mouths He has ordained praise (Matt 21:16). This scripture is referring to an Old Testament scripture which translates the word 'praise' to strength. The words praise and strength are synonymous in the Bible. So when you are praising, you are releasing strength. Last Sunday we heard a brilliant testimony of someone who when quite young in the Lord got a revelation about the effects of praising with their whole heart. When this long time Christian lady had just started out in the Lord and knew nothing, she was tormented by evil spirits due to her involvement with the occult prior to getting saved. The devil would torment her daily telling her that she would never be free to serve God, the that she would always belong to him (the devil). The pressure was too much for her and constant. She couldn't get away from the thoughts. She'd lay awake at night listening to the voices then one day God spoke to her. She was living in a different country at the time and found herself alone at home. On the TV there was Christian music playing from a church service. God told her to sing along with them and to praise Him with her WHOLE heart. Some was in English and some was in a foreign language but it didn't matter, what mattered was that she praised God with her WHOLE heart. She did. She praised Him with all she had and those tormenting spirits left her never, ever to return again. Whatever you are facing today and even though it doesn't make sense with your logical brain not to worry about it, make the decision to praise God with your WHOLE heart. Praise will take your thoughts away from the situation and onto God. Praise will magnify God and shrink the problem. Praise will change your focus. Praise will also mobilise God to move on your situation. You see praise invites Him into your situation as He inhabits the praises of His people (Psalm 22:3). Believe it or not God cannot actually move in this world without our invitation or our permission. Many people become disappointed when they feel God has not stepped in to help them but they forget that God cannot step in until they give Him permission. The Bible says He has given US authority so a lot of things are down to us not Him alone (Luke 10:19). We are in control of what happens here on earth because we have been given the power of authority through His name. Through prayer, our faith, our actions and our words we can make things happen or not. Today make the decision to praise God with your whole heart. Put some music on or raise your own voice in praise. Remember the Bible says to make a joyful noise (Psalm 98:4) so don't worry about being in tune. God is looking at your heart. Praise God until there is a release. Until your problems become minuscule. Allow God to come in and bring you peace and to work on your situation better than you ever could. Blessings!
