God's Plan B

Did you know that if you miss it the first time God always has a plan B? (and C and D and E and F!).

Most of my Christian walk was spent thinking I only had one chance at God's plan for me so when I thought I'd missed it, I thought it was over, that there was no more hope for me. That it was too late and I would never have the chance to recover what had been lost in terms of time, opportunity and money, not to mention the enthusiasm and the energy to carry it out.

Since then I have learnt that is inaccurate. In fact there are Biblical examples of God having to embark on plan B because plan A didn't work. The best example of this is King David the Psalmist who had a heart after God and who was foundational in building the Temple of God (his son built it but he had the dream and made preparations for it) to house the Ark of the Covenant.

But did you know that King David was not God's first choice? If you cast your mind back to when the people of Israel first requested a King, God gave them Saul (1 Samuel 10:23). Saul was God's anointed and appointed. He was God's first choice.

However, when Saul sinned God had to appoint another King, King David, to take over. King David wrote around half of the psalms in the Bible and in his reign as king for almost 40 years, he unified Israel, established the walled city of Jerusalem (essentially making it a capital), he set the foundation for building the temple of God by bringing the Ark of the Covenant to Jerusalem and he was to be the bloodline by which Jesus was to come through.

David himself wasn't perfect. He sinned with Bathsheeba when he committed adultery with her and killed her husband. However, God has a way of patching things up if our hearts are pure.

When it comes to your vision, if you miss it the first time, don't think that you are hung out to dry. God will either make a way of bringing plan A to pass or will initiate plan B. While you are on the earth God will endeavour to use you. The only time you won't be used is if you give up altogether. God hasn't given up on you so don't you dare give up on yourself! If God's plan B for Israel can be as good as it was with David, expect His plan B for you to be just as good, if not better than your plan A!

Lots of love,

Oceans
